Wellbeing

Here at Biggin Hill Primary School, Wellbeing sits at the heart of our school community.

We believe that when our students feel safe, supported, and valued they are able to thrive both academically and personally. We take a proactive approach to mental health, teaching children how to recognise and talk about their feelings and encourage them to seek help when they need it.

Within our school environment we have created “safe spaces” for children to access when they need to work through any difficulties they may be experiencing with a trusted member of the school team. Through extra provisions such as Mentoring sessions as well as personalised and group interventions; we strive to support our pupils’ understanding and developing their abilities in supporting their own personal wellbeing and that of those around them.

These opportunities teach the children that speaking out, talking about and raising concerns around their wellbeing can have a positive effect on not just themselves but their families and the whole school community.

Our Family Liaison Officer plays an important role in supporting the wellbeing of our families, helping to create a strong and nurturing link between home and school. By offering a listening ear, practical guidance, and early help when challenges arise, they work alongside parents and carers to promote positive routines, healthy relationships, and a sense of stability at home. This point of contact ensures that every family feels supported, valued, and connected—because when families thrive, children thrive too.

Every member of staff at Biggin Hill Primary School promotes mental health awareness and monitors the children closely to identify any child who may require support. Procedures are in place for any concerns to be followed up quickly, ensuring that appropriate support is provided for individuals.
